When I was very young I wanted to be an archeologist, specifically an Egyptologist. I don’t know why. Eventually I outgrew that wonderful dream and went to work in a bank. Seriously - I did. I got sick and tired of that and thankfully now do what I like. I still enjoy reading about Egyptian mythology - here’s some for you.
Bast (or Bastet) was an ancient Egyptian goddess who was originally presented with the head of a lion, until she became associated with domesticated felines. Considered to have a fierce and warlike persona, Bast also represented the cunning and graceful aspects of cats. Cats were sacred to Bast, hence the name of this hairpin.
